Sort How You Want

You don’t have to sort your clothes by color. There is no rule about that. If a different sorting method works better for you then do that. For example, if you want to sort by soil devel or by clothes type, try that.

Some people don’t sort laundry at all. Will that work? Well, it depends on your clothes, how new they are, and if the colors will run. Be careful with dark wash jeans and brightly dyed colors. Hard Sheets

Are your sheets hard and itchy? Yuck. Soften them up with vinegar. Run a cycle with a half-cup of distilled white vinegar with your sheets. Not only will they soften up, but they will look brighter as well. As a bonus, linger odors will disappear.

Difficult Grease Stains

Grease stains are the hardest to get out. Keep chalk in your laundry room to get rid of these stains. Chalk is very absorbent. Rub the chalk over the grease stain to absorb the grease. Where should you store your chalk in the laundry room? In kraft paper bags with handles. Not only will it keep the chalk from absorbing moisture, but it will be in a convenient bag you can pull out of the cabinet.

Collect Dryer Lint in a Reusable Shopping Bag

Don’t have room for a trash can in your laundry room? No problem. Put the dryer lint in a reusable shopping bag until you can throw it away. The reusable bag is easily wiped clean with a damp washcloth and can be left to air dry in your laundry room.

Stubborn Sticky Stains

If you have kids you know there are stubborn sticky stains of unknown origins on their clothes. Washing the clothes does not get out the stickiness. So what should you do? Use an ice cube. Leave an ice cube on top of the stickiness for a few minutes. Once the substance hardens, pull it off the clothes.

Washing Your Microfiber Glass Cloth

Microfiber eyeglass cleaning cloths get dirty and dusty over time. When this happens, that dirt and dust are rubbed onto your glasses instead of cleaning them. How do you clean them? Wash them in a washing machine without fabric softener and let them air dry.

Socks in a Laundry Bag

Wash your socks in a mesh laundry bag. Why? So the pairs will stay together. How many pairs of unmatched socks do you have in your drawer? Way too many. By washing your socks in a mesh laundry bag, you will keep all the socks together so they will all come out in pairs.

Homemade Lint Roller

Do you need a lint roller but don’t want to spend the money? Make one at home by putting duct tape on a paint roller. Make sure the sticky side is out then roll it over the clothes to pick up anything that was left behind. This is an easy, affordable solution to the expensive, store-bought rollers.

No Iron, No Problem

If you don’t have an iron in your home but have to quickly iron something, use a hair straightener. Make sure the straightener is clan and dry because you don’t want hair products getting on your clean clothes. Once it is ready, just clamp it down on the wrinkled area of your clothes and watch the wrinkles disappear.

Baby Shampoo and Sweat Stains

Sweat-stained shirts are hard to get clean. If you have tried everything, try using baby shampoo on the stains. Let the baby shampoo sit for about half an hour on the stain before you put it in the washer. When the wash cycle is done, the stains should be all gone.

DIY Wrinkle Releaser

Wrinkles are unsightly. When you need to get rid of them in a pinch you can get rid of them by making your own wrinkle releaser. Add two cups of water, one teaspoon of hair conditioner, and one tablespoon of white vinegar to a spray bottle. Make sure it is mixed then spray it onto your clothes until they are just a little damp. Pull the fabric until the wrinkles are gone.

Add a Towel to Dryer

If you are in a hurry and need dry clothes fast, then add a towel to the dryer. A clean, dry towel along with damp clothes will dry everything faster.

Creative Stain Remover

When you need a stain remover and nothing else is around, use shaving cream. Shaving cream lifts stains because it has similar ingredients as some soaps. Put shaving cream on the stain, let it sit, and then blot the stain up.

Stinky Clothes

If your clothes are stinking and you can’t get the odor out, try putting the clothes in the freezer overnight. It won’t completely take away the smell, but it will help.
